Loud, fast, done

Three chords and the truth — raw punk from the Punk Music Generator

Set the tempo past 160 BPM, say what you are angry about, and the Punk Music Generator returns short, fast, distorted tracks with shouted choruses and no fat on them. Paste your own words for the full effect, and judge the takes by urgency rather than precision.

01

Pick the target and the tempo

Punk songs are about something — a policy, a boss, a feeling you cannot shake. Name it in the prompt, set the tempo between 150 and 180 BPM, and decide whether the delivery is shouted, sneered, or sung flat.

02

Write like the clock is running

Short lines, plain words, a chorus that could be chanted by a room full of people. In Own lyrics, keep the whole thing under two minutes — if a line does not push the song forward, cut it before you paste.

03

Judge the take by energy, not accuracy

Punk is supposed to sound like it might fall apart. Compare versions by whether the drums drive, whether the vocal sounds committed, and whether the last chorus lands harder than the first. A slightly raw take beats a tidy one.

04

Bend it toward the sub-styles

Rerun the same song as pop-punk with bigger melodies, a hardcore-lean with more aggression, or garage punk with more rattle. The message that survives all three is the single.

What should a punk prompt include for the Punk Music Generator?

Speed, attitude, and simplicity: "fast punk rock, 172 BPM, power chords, driving drums, shouted male vocal with gang vocals on the chorus, under two minutes." Naming the tempo and the vocal delivery does more for the result than naming bands.

How do you know a punk take is finished?

It ends before it gets boring, the chorus is chantable on the first listen, and the energy never dips for a bridge that does not exist anyway. If a take slows down in the middle or stretches past the two-minute mark, tighten the prompt and rerun.
