Constrain loosely on purpose
Give a tempo range instead of a BPM, a mood instead of a genre, maybe one instrument you love. The tighter the prompt, the fewer surprises — the point here is the opposite of control.

Break the block — unexpected grooves from the Random Beat Generator
Set only the loosest constraints, roll the Random Beat Generator, and listen to grooves you would never have written — odd drum choices, strange basslines, tempo moves you did not plan. Skim, keep, and reroll; serendipity is the feature, not a bug.
Skim like an A&R
Listen to twenty seconds of each roll: keep the ones that make you lean in, skip the rest without guilt. The first surprise that makes you rewind is the session start.
Judge by unexpectedness you can use
A great random beat is strange but playable: an odd kick pattern that still nods, a bassline that surprises without losing the key. Discard the chaotic, keep the charmingly wrong.
Nudge the keeper into shape
Take the winning roll and rerun it with one word added — darker, slower, sparser — until the accident becomes a song. The best endings here still sound a little like a coincidence.
How should you prompt the Random Beat Generator?
Minimally, and with intent: "random instrumental beat, 90-110 BPM, surprise me, any drum style, one melodic element." The wider you leave the doors, the more the generator can act like a collaborator with taste different from yours.
What do you do with a random beat you like but cannot use?
Treat it as a writing prompt rather than a finished track. Rerun it in the style of your project, describe its drum pattern back into a new prompt, or keep it as a seed for a different song. Randomness you curate becomes style.
